FIR AGAINST 10 FOR STEALING POWER; RS 1.6 LAKH FINE IMPOSED

Theft of electricity is a crime, punishable by fines and or imprisonment.

Power theft incidents are still coming to fore in Bokaro as people have started adopting new ways for stealing power.

The electricity department officials conducted raids at different locations in district and lodged FIR against ten people for stealing electric power at local police station and fined Rs 1.6 lakh to the defaulters.

A team lead by Assistant Electrical Engineer Sadan Laha conducted raids at different locations under Balidih, Chas and Pindrajora police stations. “A total of Rs 1.60 lakh has been fined on all of them who were found stealing electricity,” said Laha.

“FIR was lodged against 10 persons under their local police stations,” he added.

FIR was lodged against Hazi Ajiz, M Rahaman. Md Alam and Ibrar Ahamad at Pindrajora police station, against Sanjay Kumar, Shivanshu Sharma and Bijay Kumar at Balidih police station. While FIR lodged against Umeashchandra Pandit, Raju Mahato and Arvind Paswan at Chas police station, police said.

It is significant dangers for an individual as well as their family too. It can damage equipment and cause power outages, and it costs everyone who is paying for the power they use, said an official.[Courtesy;The Pioneer]
