High-tech power theft by Shop owner in India.

A shop owner has changed the circuitry of energy meter by introducing three additional resistors connected to slow down the meter permanently. The resistors were set by cutting the back of the meter. Further, the consumer set the cut portion and decorated the back area of the meter so that it could not be noticed through normal vision of eyes. But an officer of anti power theft squad of  Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) acted astutely and inspected the meter at the site itself  and established  “earth tamper” sign and initiated further action. The shop owner could make the meter slow so that consumption of his electric load 15 KW could be go unrecorded.
