Power theft: Few Indian DISCOMs behind the times.

TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has recently announced providing mobile number to inform power theft. This utility is struggling to maintain 24×7 power supply to consumers. Odissa has the dubious history of transforming the DISCOM to private sector and later carried tall the mishaps. The present private entrepreneurs might have come recently, but trailing behind in adopting technology to control power theft. In another state of Punjab, The Government is on the process of introducing Smart meter and was opposed by a political party which took the initiation of re-connecting premises where electricity was disconnected by the authorities on account of power theft in Indian capital city Delhi. All parties are playing politics to get the votes of farmers which are sizable in north Indian States.
