Price protection C. E. R. C. (Staff Paper Staff Paper on Power Market Pricing)

To control price inflation, volatility and unpredictability of the market in power exchanges, C E. R. C (Central Electricity Regulatory Commission) issued instructions. This paper mainly discusses the price determination method, uniform market clearing price and PAB (Pay as Bid) big screening. The proposals refer to a methodology to deal with excessive and disproportionate price increases. The purpose of this paper was to deal with abnormal price inflation as it dealt with different pricing methods. 39 stakeholders have commented on it. Few people favoured UMCP (Uniform Market Clearing Price) but few demanded that UMCP should be aligned with High Price Day Ahead market with Pay as a bid method. Stakeholders mainly expressed concerns about determining a benchmark for costing, checking historical data, and preventing price escalation. It was in this context that the new paper was released.
