Power secretary conducts surprise inspection

The secretary, Power Radhika Jha took to field on Monday and conducted surprise inspections at many places in Haridwar and Dehradun districts. The officer inspected the electrification work of rural homes in Ghisarpatti and Khairi villages of Dehradun and Van Basti and Gujjar Basti of Haridwar district on the day.

Taking stern action on the incidents of power thefts in Jwalapur area of Haridwar, Jha recommended suspension of Addition Engineer Mayank Chauhan.

In the Salempur village of Jwalapur, she interacted with the local people and heard their grievance. She also raided Ms Vaibhav Ispat and Ms Rukmani steels on suspicion of power theft. On her order teams of department sealed the meters of these units. The secretary power also directed the Director operations of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to inspect units consuming excess power in Udham Singh Nagar district.[The Pioneer]
