Power theft ‘crushed’ DISCOM in Gurugram

Gurugram,(India) According to a notification from the DISCOM, a flying squad searched the premises of a crusher unit in the Naurangpur crusher zone of Gurugram and detected extensive power theft.A connected load of 583 KW was discovered to be used unlawfully, for which the offender was fined Rs 3.13 crore (0.4 million USD).

The involvement of Electricity Authority’s workers is a subject of investigation by the anti-power theft squad. At the crusher zone, electricity was being stolen circumventing the meter.

With a total load of 583.95 KW, four large motors with 100 HP, four motors with 30 HP, and ten motors with 20 HP each were discovered to be in operation.
